Witnesses: Pierre Lapointe, Bruce Hoffman

Pierre Lapointe (Steering Committee on Justice Efficiencies and Access to the Criminal Justice System) continues to testify. Under direct examination by Commission Counsel Michel Dorval, Mr. Lapointe reviews policy recommendations for reforming the procedure and requirements for disclosing information to the defence. He also speaks about other strategies for improving efficiency in the justice system and in complex criminal trials in particular. Norman Boxall (Counsel for the Air India Victims’ Families Association) and Loretta Colton (Counsel for the Attorney General of Canada) cross-examine Mr. Lapointe. Bruce Hoffman (Georgetown University) testifies under direct examination by Commission Counsel Mark J. Freiman about issues related to counter-terrorism and intelligence coordination. Mr. Boxall and Barney Brucker (Counsel for the Attorney General of Canada) cross-examine Mr. Hoffman.
