Commission of Inquiry into Certain Allegations Respecting Business and Financial Dealings Between Karlheinz Schreiber and the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney

Witness: Luc Lavoie

Commission Counsel Giuseppe Battista conducts examination of Luc Lavoie (former Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations in the Prime Minister’s Office). Mr. Lavoie describes his public relations work for Mr. Mulroney beginning in 1995, following allegations of a kickback scheme involving Mr. Mulroney, Mr. Schreiber, and Frank Moores related to Air Canada’s purchase of Airbus airplanes. Mr. Lavoie recalls learning of a series of cash payments by Mr. Schreiber and his own advice to Mr. Mulroney to make a public admission concerning the payments. He is asked about his interviews with author William Kaplan and with various members of the press.
