Commission Counsel Giuseppe Battista concludes examination of Luc Lavoie (Mr. Mulroney’s former Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations), asking him about Mr. Mulroney’s financial situation and about interviews conducted on Mr. Mulroney’s behalf with various members of the press. François Grondin (Counsel for Mr. Mulroney) cross-examines Mr. Lavoie, with questions focusing on Mr. Lavoie’s interviews with author William Kaplan and on Mr. Lavoie’s public admissions concerning a series of cash payments made by Mr. Schreiber to Mr. Mulroney. During a brief re-examination by Mr. Battista, Mr. Lavoie speaks about discrepancies concerning the total amount of Mr. Schreiber’s cash payments.
