Inquiries on CPAC - The Oliphant Inquiry – May 15, 2009 (Part 2 of 2)

Commission of Inquiry into Certain Allegations Respecting Business and Financial Dealings Between Karlheinz Schreiber and the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney

Witness: Brian Mulroney

The Commission continues to hear testimony from Mr. Mulroney, a former prime minister of Canada, with Lead Commission Counsel Richard Wolson resuming cross-examination. Mr. Mulroney is questioned extensively on the subject of a December 1993 meeting at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal during which Mr. Schreiber made cash payments, allegedly in exchange for Mr. Mulroney’s international promotion of Thyssen military vehicles for use in peacekeeping missions. Mr. Wolson proceeds to ask Mr. Mulroney about the potential market for Thyssen’s vehicles and about a December 1994 meeting with Mr. Schreiber and Fred Doucet at the Pierre Hotel in New York, during which Mr. Schreiber again made a cash payment.
