Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witnesses: Michael Wernick, Kathy O’Hara, Alex Himelfarb

The Commission continues to hear testimony from a panel of Privy Council Office staff, including Alex Himelfarb (Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet), Kathy O’Hara (Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Machinery of Government), and Michael Wernick (Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Plans and Consultations). There are brief cross-examinations by Guy Pratte (Counsel for Jean Pelletier), Pierre Fournier (Counsel for Alfonso Gagliano), and George Hunter (Counsel for Ranald Quail), which focus mainly on principles of ministerial accountability.
