Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witnesses: Janet Labelle, Norman Steinberg, Steven Turner, Raoul Solon, Jim Hamer

The Commission continues to hear testimony from a panel of internal auditors from the Department of Public Works and Government Services, including Janet Labelle (Manager, Fraud Investigations and Internal Disclosures Directorate), Norman Steinberg (Director General of Audit and Ethics), Steven Turner (former member, Audit and Review Branch), Raoul Solon (former Assistant Director, Audit and Review Branch), and Jim Hamer (former Audit Manager). Pierre Fournier (Counsel for Alfonso Gagliano) continues cross-examination. The Commissioner also questions the witnesses, asking them about responsibility for following up on the recommendations of the 1996 Ernst & Young audit.
