Inquiries on CPAC - The Gomery Inquiry – January 31, 2005 (Part 3 of 3)

Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Commission Counsel Neil Finkelstein makes remarks concerning the release of documents by the Privy Council Office on the subject of the so-called Unity Fund. The Commission continues to hear arguments concerning a motion by David W. Scott and Peter Doody (Counsel for Jean Chrétien) calling for the recusal of Commissioner John H. Gomery in light of remarks made in a series of high-profile interviews with the press in December 2004. Submissions in opposition to the motion are made by Richard Auger (Counsel for Charles Guité) and Sylvain Lussier (on behalf of the Attorney General of Canada). Lorne Morphy (Counsel for Commissioner Gomery) makes a submission and Mr. Scott responds.
