Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Jean Pelletier

Associate Commission Counsel Guy Cournoyer concludes direct examination of Jean Pelletier (Jean Chrétien’s former chief of staff) with questions focusing on the role of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in recommending events for sponsorship and on the prime minister’s authorization of use of the so-called unity fund to pay for sponsorship activities. Mr. Pelletier denies playing a role in the awarding of sponsorship contracts to communications agencies. There is a short cross-examination by Guy Pratte (Counsel for Mr. Pelletier).
