Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Jean Brault

Jean Brault (the former president of Groupaction Marketing) continues testimony with Commission Counsel Bernard Roy conducting direct examination. Mr. Brault describes his hiring of Alain Renaud, beginning in 1993, to act as a liaison for Groupaction with both the Liberal Party of Canada and the Department of Public Works and Government Services. He speaks about meetings with Charles Guité at the Club Saint-Denis in Montreal beginning in 1994 and about an August 1995 meeting with Jean Carle (the chief of staff in the Prime Minister’s Office) arranged by Mr. Renaud to solicit sponsorship contracts.
