Inquiries on CPAC - The Arar Inquiry – June 15, 2005 (Part 4 of 4)

The Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar

Witness: Franco Pillarella

Barbara A. McIsaac (for the Attorney General of Canada) cross-examines Franco Pillarella, the former Canadian ambassador to Syria. Questions focus on the nature of consular access to Mr. Arar during his detention in Syria and on Mr. Pillarella’s own judgement of the Syrians’ position on Mr. Arar. This is followed by a brief re-examination by Commission Counsel Paul J. J. Cavalluzzo.
