Witness: Michael Edelson

Michael Edelson (former attorney for Mr. Arar) continues testimony. Under examination by Commission Counsel Marc David, Mr. Edelson describes ongoing efforts to secure the release of Mr. Arar, including a series of communications with Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAIT) staff and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) investigators beginning in the autumn of 2002. He recalls warning John McNee (an assistant deputy minister at DFAIT) about the likelihood of Mr. Arar’s torture in Syria.
