The Gomery Inquiry – December 8, 2004 (Part 1 of 4)

Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Ron Bilodeau

The Commission continues to hear testimony from Ron Bilodeau (former Associate Secretary of the Privy Council), with cross-examinations of Mr. Bilodeau conducted by Peter Doody (Counsel for Jean Chrétien), Richard Auger (Counsel for Charles Guité), Pierre Fournier (Counsel for Alfonso Gagliano), Guy Pratte (Counsel for Jean Pelletier), and Sylvain Lussier (on behalf of the Attorney General of Canada). Questioning during the cross-examinations focuses on Prime Minister Chrétien’s role in approving the use of the so-called Unity Fund for sponsorship activities and on Mr. Guité’s competence in administering the sponsorship program. There is a brief re-examination by Commission Counsel Bernard Roy.
