Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

The Commission hears testimony from a panel of former employees of Communication Canada, including Gilles Pelletier (the former director general of the Community Relations Branch), Guy McKenzie (the former executive director), Diane Viau (the former head of operations of the Communications Branch), Liseanne Forand (former Assistant Executive Director, Communications Programs and Services), and Guy Bédard (former Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for Communication Canada). Associate Commission Counsel Guy Cournoyer conducts direct examination of the witnesses, with testimony focusing on the creation of Communication Canada following the merger of the Canada Information Office (CIO) and the Communication Coordination Services Branch (CCSB) and on new procedures under Communication Canada for awarding sponsorship and advertising contracts.
