Witness: Marc LeFrançois

Marc LeFrançois (the former chair and CEO of VIA Rail Canada) continues testimony. Under direct examination by Associate Commission Counsel Guy Cournoyer, Mr. LeFrançois describes the roles of Charles Guité and Lafleur Communication in securing the involvement of VIA Rail in federal sponsorship activities. He speaks about meetings with television producer Robert-Guy Scully to discuss VIA Rail’s sponsorship of a television series about Maurice Richard. Mr. LeFrançois also recalls assurances that the Department of Public Works and Government Services would reimburse VIA Rail’s sponsorship contributions.
