Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

The Commission continues to hear motions calling for temporary publication bans on the testimony of Jean Brault, Paul Coffin, and Charles Guité in light of the three witnesses’ anticipated criminal trials. There are submissions in support of a temporary ban on publication by Jean-Yves Bernard (on behalf of the Attorney General of Québec) and Associate Commission Counsel Guy Cournoyer. Daniel Rochefort (Counsel for the Association of Quebec Advertising Agencies) presents a motion seeking permission to make a submission. Mr. Cournoyer makes a submission and the Commissioner dismisses Mr. Rochefort’s motion. Sylvain Lussier (on behalf of the Attorney General of Canada) makes a submission in support of a temporary publication ban.
