The Gomery Inquiry – January 19, 2005 (Part 5 of 6)

Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: André Ouellet

The Commission continues to hear testimony on the subject of Canada Post’s involvement in sponsorship activities. Commission Counsel Bernard Roy continues direct examination of André Ouellet (the former president and CEO of Canada Post). In a series of heated exchanges with Mr. Roy and the Commissioner, Mr. Ouellet is asked about his friendship with Jean Lafleur and Jacques Corriveau, his role in the selection of events for sponsorship by Canada Post, and his authorization of untendered contracts with Lafleur Communication and Gervais Gagnon. Raymond Doray (Counsel for Mr. Ouellet) persistently objects to Mr. Roy’s questions.
