Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Jean Pelletier

The Commission hears testimony from Jean Pelletier (Jean Chrétien’s former chief of staff). Under direct examination by Associate Commission Counsel Guy Cournoyer, Mr. Pelletier speaks about the delegation of responsibilities within the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), a January 1996 cabinet report on national unity calling for increased government visibility in Quebec, and the prime minister’s authorization of use of the so-called Unity Fund to pay for sponsorship activities.
