The Gomery Inquiry – March 30, 2005 (Part 1 of 5)

Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Gilles-André Gosselin

The Commission continues to hear testimony from Gilles-André Gosselin (the former owner of Gosselin et Associés Communication Stratégique). Following a short cross-examination by Anouk Fournier (Counsel for Alfonso Gagliano), Sylvain Lussier (on behalf of the Attorney General of Canada) conducts cross-examination. Mr. Gosselin describes processes for the selection of advertising agencies by the Department of Public Works and Government Services and he recalls a meeting with Jean-Marc Bard to discuss dwindling sponsorship contracts. He also speaks about a private box at the Corel Centre in Ottawa paid for by the government, operated by Gosselin, and used to entertain government employees. There is a short re-examination of Mr. Gosselin by Associate Commission Counsel Guy Cournoyer.
