Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Jean Chrétien

The Commission continues to hear testimony from Jean Chrétien, the former prime minister of Canada. Under direct examination by Commission Counsel Bernard Roy, Mr. Chrétien speaks about a January 1996 cabinet report on national unity, the formation of the Canada Information Office (CIO), his relationship with Jacques Corriveau, and the federal cabinet’s knowledge of the existence of the sponsorship program.
