Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Alfonso Gagliano

The Commission continues to hear testimony from Alfonso Gagliano (former Minister of Public Works and Government Services). Under cross-examination by Richard Dearden (Counsel for the Office of the Auditor General), Mr. Gagliano is asked about the use of sponsorship funds for the purchase of a large television screen by the Old Port of Montreal and about Public Works’ reimbursement of VIA Rail’s sponsorship of a television series by producer Robert-Guy Scully. There are questions from Pierre Fournier (Counsel for Mr. Gagliano) on Mr. Gagliano’s ministerial responsibilities, on the Old Port of Montreal agreement, and on Mr. Gagliano’s dealings with the Treasury Board.
