Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Gilles-André Gosselin

The Commission continues to hear testimony from Gilles-André Gosselin (the former owner of Gosselin et Associés Communication Stratégique) with Associate Commission Counsel Guy Cournoyer conducting direct examination. Mr. Gosselin is asked about his agency’s billing practices, including commissions for the purchase of promotional items. He describes donations to the Liberal Party of Canada made following requests by Diane Deslauriers and also on the orders of Groupaction’s Jean Brault following the sale of Mr. Gosselin’s company to Groupaction. He also recalls assurances about sponsorship contracts from Charles Guité and meetings with Pierre Tremblay and Jean-Marc Bard to discuss dwindling contracts. Mr. Gosselin is also asked about his dealings with Jean Lafleur and there is a discussion of Mr. Gosselin’s role in the sponsorship of a television series on Maurice Richard produced by Robert-Guy Scully.
