The Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar

Witness: James Lockyer

James Lockyer, a former attorney for Mr. Arar, testifies. Under examination by Commission Counsel Marc David, Mr. Lockyer describes his involvement in Mr. Arar’s case in July and August of 2003, including preparation to attend Mr. Arar’s anticipated trial in Syria. He is asked about Mr. Arar’s public statements following his return to Canada and about attempts to initiate a public inquiry.
