The Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar

Witnesses: Sheema Khan, Rachad Antonius, Reem Bahdi

The Commission hears contextual evidence on the impact of 9/11 and its aftermath on Muslim and Arab Communities in Canada from Rachad Antonius (Department of Sociology, Université du Québec à Montréal), Reem Bahdi (Faculty of Law, University of Windsor), and Sheema Khan (Chair, Council on American-Islamic Relations Canada). The witnesses, under examination by Commission Counsel Brian Gover and Paul J. J. Cavalluzzo, describe Islamophobia and anti-Arab sentiment and the experience of Arab and Muslim communities dealing with Canadian police and security intelligence agencies.
