Inquiries on CPAC - The Arar Inquiry – September 12, 2005 (Part 1 of 4)

The Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar

The Commission hears oral closing submissions from Lorne Waldman and Marlys Edwardh (Counsel for Mr. Arar). Mr. Waldman recalls Mr. Arar’s objectives in calling for a public inquiry in order to clear his own name, to determine responsibility, and to ensure that his experiences are never repeated. Mr. Waldman then elaborates on questions of responsibility in relation to Mr. Arar’s experiences during his investigation by Canadian law enforcement agencies prior to September 2002 and his detainment in New York in September and October 2002.
