The Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar

Witness: Wayne Easter

Commission Counsel Paul J. J. Cavalluzzo continues direct examination of former Solicitor General Wayne Easter. Testimony focuses on the alleged involvement of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in the deportation of Mr. Arar from the United States to Syria. The minister repeatedly denies any knowledge of interference by the RCMP or the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) in attempts to secure Mr. Arar’s return to Canada from Syria.
