The Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar

Witness: Daniel Livermore

Commission Counsel Paul J. J. Cavalluzzo concludes direct examination of Daniel Livermore (Director General of the Security and Intelligence Bureau, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT)). Mr. Livermore is cross-examined by Marlys Edwardh (Counsel for Mr. Arar) on the subject of Syria’s human rights record, the supposed confidentiality of communications between Canadians and Canadian consular officials, and DFAIT’s sharing of information on Mr. Arar with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
