Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Jean Brault

Commission Counsel Bernard Roy concludes direct examination of Jean Brault (the former president of Groupaction Marketing). Mr. Brault is questioned in detail about Groupaction’s financial statements and invoices for sponsorship services. Guy Pratte (Counsel for Jean Pelletier) cross-examines the witness, with questions focusing on the nature of Mr. Brault’s responsibilities as president of Groupaction and on his relationship with Charles Guité. There are short cross-examinations by Anouk Fournier (Counsel for Alfonso Gagliano) and Julio Peris (Counsel for Mr. Guité). Doug Mitchell (Counsel for the Liberal Party of Canada) begins cross-examination of Mr. Brault, asking about allegedly phony invoices remitted to Groupaction by the Liberal Party and about Mr. Brault’s hiring of lobbyist Alain Renaud.
