Witness: Ron Townshend

Ron Townshend (British Columbia Registry Services) testifies under direct examination by Commission Counsel Roger Bilodeau. Mr. Townshend gives a detailed slide presentation to the Commission on the history of non-profit organizations in British Columbia, various features of non-profit corporations, the role of the registrar, and related matters. Mr. Bilodeau asks Mr. Townshend about the process for registering as a non-profit organization in British Columbia and about possible changes to the process in order to combat the use of non-profit organization registration as a tool for terrorist financing. Richard P. Quance (Counsel for the Family Members of the Crew Member Victims of Air India Flight 182, and Indian Nationals) and Roger Leclaire (Counsel for the Attorney General of Canada) cross-examine Mr. Townshend.
