Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182

Witnesses : Brion Brandt, David Lyon, Jean Barrette

Commission Counsel Brian Gover makes brief remarks concerning the participation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the Commission. Brion Brandt (Director of Security Policy at Transport Canada), David Lyon (Queen’s University), and Jean Barrette (Canadian Air Transport Security Authority) testify as a panel under direct examination by Mr. Gover. Questions focus on various privacy and human rights considerations related to recent policies and procedures for screening air travellers and their luggage. Specific policies and procedures discussed include the Government of Canada’s Passenger Protect Program and the Specified Persons List. Raj Anand (Counsel for Lata Pada and other victims’ families) cross examines the panel.
