Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Roger Desjeans

The Commission hears testimony from Roger Desjeans (former Vice-President, Finance, Groupaction Marketing). Under direct examination by Commission Counsel Bernard Roy, Mr. Desjeans describes the remittance of phony invoices to Groupaction by Bernard Thiboutot and others for the purpose of channelling funds to the Liberal Party of Canada. He recalls donations to the Parti Québécois made at the urging of Jean Brault, the president of Groupaction. Mr. Desjeans is also asked about Charles Guité’s work for Groupaction following Mr. Guité’s retirement from the public service and about an unpaid loan to Mr. Guité from Mr. Brault.
