Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witnesses: André Thouin, William Beahan

The Commission continues to hear testimony on the use of sponsorship funds for the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Associate Commission Counsel Guy Cournoyer conducts direct examination of André Thouin (former RCMP Director General of Public Relations and Information) with questions focusing on Mr. Thouin’s correspondence with Charles Guité and on his attempts to secure sponsorship funds for anniversary-related events. Under cross-examination by Pierre Fournier (Counsel for Alfonso Gagliano), Mr. Thouin is asked about his communication with Mr. Guité. There is a brief re-examination by Mr. Cournoyer and Mr. Cournoyer proceeds with direct examination of William Beahan (force historian for the RCMP).
