Witness: Flynt Leverett

Marlys Edwardh (Counsel for Mr. Arar) continues cross-examination of Flynt Leverett (Senior Fellow, Saban Center for Middle East Policy, Brookings Institution). Dr. Leverett speaks about the American practice of ‘rendition’, intelligence-sharing agreements between the United States and Syria, and the likely nature of the Syrians’ interest in Mr. Arar. Commission Counsel Paul J. J. Cavalluzzo asks Dr. Leverett about Syrian Military Intelligence and the nature of diplomatic relations between Syria and the United States. There is a brief re-examination by Michel Décary (Counsel to Canadian consul Léo Martel and former Canadian Ambassador to Syria Franco Pillarella).
