Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witnesses: Michael Wernick, Kathy O’Hara, Alex Himelfarb

The Commission continues to hear testimony from a panel of Privy Council Office staff, including Alex Himelfarb (Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet), Kathy O’Hara (Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Machinery of Government), and Michael Wernick (Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Plans and Consultations). Peter Doody (Counsel for Jean Chrétien) concludes cross-examination with questions focusing on the government’s national unity strategy and on a request made to the Treasury Board for sponsorship funding signed by Mr. Chrétien.
