Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witnesses: Joanne Bouvier, Ghislaine Ippersiel

Sylvain Lussier (on behalf of the Attorney General of Canada) responds to applications from Charles Côté (Counsel for the Liberal Party of Canada), Arthur Hamilton (Counsel for the Conservative Party of Canada), and Clément Groleau (Counsel for the Bloc Québécois) requesting additional funding to cover costs related to the political parties’ participation in the inquiry. The Commission continues to hear testimony from Joanne Bouvier (former chief of operations for the registrar’s office in the office of Alfonso Gagliano); Pierre Fournier (Counsel for Mr. Gagliano) and Mr. Lussier conduct cross-examinations. Ghislaine Ippersiel (former administrative assistant to Pierre Tremblay and Jean-Marc Bard and former special assistant to Mr. Gagliano) testifies. Under direct examination by Guy Cournoyer (Associate Commission Counsel), Ms. Ippersiel describes the role of various staff members in the Public Works minister’s office in selecting projects for sponsorship.
