Commission Counsel Neil Finkelstein continues examination of a panel of employees of Public Works and Government Services Canada, including I. David Marshall (Deputy Minister), Yvette Aloïsi (Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services, Human Resources and Communications Branch), Myra Conway (Director General, Financial Operations), George A. Butts (Acting Director General for the Acquisitions Policy, Risk, Integrity and Strategic Management Directorate, Acquisitions Branch), and Gerry Thom (Director of Classification, Compensation and Business Systems, Corporate Services, Human Resources and Communications Branch). The witnesses explain accountability for sponsorship spending and principles preventing political interference in the public service. There are also questions about the findings of a 1996 Ernst & Young audit of Public Works advertising activities.
