Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

Witness: Huguette Tremblay

Guy Cournoyer (Associate Commission Counsel) continues direct examination of Huguette Tremblay (former office manager for Charles Guité). Reviewing numerous sponsorship contracts and invoices submitted as evidence, Ms. Tremblay describes her role in overseeing financial transactions within the Communications Coordination Services Branch (CCSB) of the Department of Public Works and Government Services. Discussion focuses on contracts and commissions for promotional items such as jackets and golf balls. Ms. Tremblay describes promotional items being selected for delivery to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) by Mr. Guité and Jean Carle (director of operations for the PMO). She explains the role of Alfonso Gagliano, the Public Works minister, in the approval of sponsorship contracts, and describes communication between Mr. Guité’s office and the minister’s.
