Magna Carta
The Magna Carta Signed reluctantly by King John Lackland in 1215, the Magna Carta is the first document to limit the powers of the Crown. This 800-year-old text is the precursor of several laws enshrining fundamental freedoms. To mark the 800th anniversary of the Magna carta, one of the copies kept at the Durham Cathedral, in England, has been sent across the Atlantic ocean to be put on display at the Canadian Museum of History.
