On March 31st, 2010, in Ottawa, Fisheries and Oceans Minister Gail Shea spoke about her experiences as a female elected official. Shea examined why she decided to pursue a life in politics, the difficulties she faces as a female politician, and why she feels the experience is so rewarding for her. The event was organized by Equal Voice National Capital Region and was part of an ongoing discussion about electing more women to all levels of government.
