Host Martin Stringer reviews the week’s headlines.
Martin is joined by a panel of MPs to review the week’s major Canadian political issues, focusing on the public inquiry into alleged past business dealings between former prime minister Brian Mulroney and businessman Karlheinz Schreiber. The MPs also comment on Mr. Schreiber’s pending extradition from Canada to Germany, scheduled for December 1, 2007. Sitting on the panel are MPs Michael Allen (Conservative), Robert Thibault (Liberal), Meili Faille (Bloc Québécois), and Judy Wasylycia-Leis (NDP).
Martin discusses the Mulroney–Schreiber affair in more detail with journalists Louise Elliott and John Geddes.
Having covered the Canadian political scene for more than 25 years, Martin is as politically astute as he is savvy. He joined CPAC in 1996 and has covered leadership races, political conventions and federal elections, serving as PrimeTime Politics’ Hill correspondent daily and host of the show’s Friday edition. Martin began his career as a reporter for CBC Radio in Quebec City and also worked for seven years as national and international producer for CBC Radio’s flagship show, As It Happens.
