PrimeTime Politics Weekend
October 20, 2006
Host Martin Stringer reviews the week’s events, including a derogatory remark allegedly made in the House of Commons by Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay against Liberal MP Belinda Stronach. A panel of MPs join Martin in the studio to discuss Mr. MacKay’s alleged comment and the Clean Air Act, introduced by Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative government. The panellists are Brad Trost (Conservative MP), Mauril Bélanger (Liberal MP), Serge Ménard (Bloc Québécois MP), and Judy Wasylycia-Leis (NDP MP). Martin sits down with Green Party leader Elizabeth May to discuss the Clean Air Act, the suspension of Ontario MP Garth Turner from the Conservative Caucus, and Mr. Turner’s possible defection to the Green Party. Later, journalists Susan Lunn and Paul Samyn join Martin to review topics discussed earlier in the show.
