Host Peter Van Dusen reviews the day’s headlines. CPAC’s Michelle Lavoie reports on the establishment of a federal taskforce to address widespread problems within the RCMP. Peter conducts a video interview with Minister of Public Safety Stockwell Day, focusing on the taskforce’s mandate. In a video panel discussion, members of the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee comment on the taskforce’s establishment. The panellists are MPs Borys Wrzesnewskyj (Liberal) and David Christopherson (NDP). CPAC’s Martin Stringer reports on the creation of Canada’s no-fly list, which prohibits individuals on the list from flying within Canada. Faisal Kutty (vice chairman of the Canadian Council on American–Islamic Relations) joins Peter in a video interview to outline his concerns about Canada’s no-fly list. Peter discusses this issue further with a video panel featuring Dave MacKenzie (parliamentary secretary to the minister of Public Safety), Joe Volpe (Liberal MP) and Peter Julian (NDP MP), members of the House of Commons Transport Committee. Later, Martin speaks with Liberal Senate leader Céline Hervieux-Payette about a Senate review of the 2007 federal budget.
