The Charter at 25
The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada hosts a conference on the history and impact of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, McGill University, Montreal, Que., February 14–16, 2007. The event marks the Charter’s 25th anniversary. This February 14th session features a roundtable discussion on the creation of the Charter. The participants are Thomas Axworthy (president of the Centre for the Study of Democracy at Queen’s University), Hugh Segal (Ontario Conservative Senator), Louis Bernard (former secretary general to the Quebec government), and Eddie Goldenberg (partner at Stikeman Elliot LLP). Pamela Wallin (McGill Institute board member) moderates. After presenting opening statements, panellists answer questions from audience members.
