S.O.S. Medicare 2: Looking Forward
On May 3–4, 2007, in Regina, Sask., the Canadian Health Coalition held the "S.O.S. Medicare 2: Looking Forward" conference. This gathering brings together leading experts and activists in what Tommy Douglas called the Second Phase of Medicare. This panel, entitled "Getting There from Here," featured Roy Romanow (former premier of Saskatchewan), Danielle Martin (Canadian Doctors for Medicare), Andrew Petter (dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Victoria), Elisabeth Ballerman (Health Sciences Association of Alberta), Maude Barlow (chairperson of the Council of Canadians), Marcy Cohen (British Columbia Hospitals Employees’s Union), and Doris Grinspun (Registered Nurses Association of Ontario).
