The Couchiching Institute on Public Affairs held its 76th Annual conference in Orillia, Ont., August 9–12, 2007. Entitled “The Stranger Next Door: Making Diversity Work," the 2007 conference examined diversity, social cohesion and citizenship in Canada.

The August 10 session, entitled “Diversity & Security: Diverse Threats to Security?" featured Audrey Macklin (University of Toronto Faculty of Law), Sophie Body-Gendrot (professor at the Unviersité Sorbonne), and chief superintendent Kate Lines (Ontario Provincial Police).
