On October 31, 2007, in Ottawa, the 53rd General Assembly of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA) held their Opening Ceremonies and Plenary Session. The theme at this year’s general assembly is “NATO and Global Partners: a comprehensive approach to rebuilding Afghanistan and other challenges.”

The opening session featured the chairman of the Atlantic Council of Canada Bill Graham. NATO Deputy Secretary General Claudio Bisogniero, and Minister of Defence of Albania Fatmir Mediu.
