The tenth national Metropolis Conference is held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, April 3–6, 2008. The theme of this year's conference is "Expanding the Debate: Multiple Perspectives on Immigration to Canada.”

The fourth plenary session takes place on April 5th and is titled "Serving a Diverse Population.” Participants examine the relationship between minority and migrant communities, the state, and the justice system. Panellists also explore ways to build and maintain effective and trusting relationships within our society.

Among the panellists are Catherine Fieschi (director of Demos), Wanda Thomas Bernard (director and professor in the School of Social Work at Dalhouse University), and Isobel Anderson (Ottawa Police Service).

After speaking, panellists field questions from audience members.
