The tenth national Metropolis Conference is held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, April 3–6, 2008. The theme of this year's conference is "Expanding the Debate: Multiple Perspectives on Immigration to Canada.” This April 6th panel is the fifth plenary session of the conference. Participants are asked to explore the question: "Does a commitment to citizenship, inclusion, and integration prevent extremism and radicalization?" Among the panellists are Jez Littlewood (director of the Canadian Centre of Intelligence and Security Studies at Carleton University), Jim Frideres (professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Calgary), and Reeta Tremblay (dean of the Faculty of Arts at Memorial University of Newfoundland). After speaking, panellists field questions from audience members.
