Finance Minister Tom Marshall tables the 2008 provincial budget in the House of Assembly, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, April 29, 2008.

The Newfoundland and Labrador government is forecasting a $544-million surplus for 2008–2009, primarily due to the soaring price of oil. The government will also increase education and health care spending and pay down some of its large debt.
