Public Record - Cosmopolitan Identity in the Islamic World


The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) holds a conference entitled "Cosmopolitan Identity in the Islamic World: Global Citizenship and Social Change," Ottawa, Ont., June 25–26, 2008.

The topic of the second session on June 25th is "Modern, Democratic, and Muslim: Towards a Culture of Civic Participation.” Roger Owen (director, Middle East, Centre at Harvard University), Lakhdar Brahimi (special advisor to the UN Secretary-General), Salman Haidar (director, South Asian Political Initiative), Nathan Funk (assistant professor, Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Waterloo), among others, present speeches on this topic.
