Cosmopolitan Identity in the Islamic World
The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) holds a conference entitled "Cosmopolitan Identity in the Islamic World: Global Citizenship and Social Change," Ottawa, Ont., June 25–26, 2008. The topic of the first session on June 25th is "The Islamic Intellectual Heritage in a Contemporary Global Context." Mohammed Arkoun (emeritus professor of the History of Islamic Thought, University of Paris III: Sorbonne-Nouvelle), Jamil Ragep (professor, History of Science in Islamic Societies, McGill University), and Ghassan Atiyyah (publisher, Iraqi File), among others, present speeches on this topic.
