Public Record - Cosmopolitan Identity in the Islamic World


The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) holds a conference entitled "Cosmopolitan Identity in the Islamic World: Global Citizenship and Social Change," Ottawa, Ont., June 25–26, 2008.

The topic of the first session on June 25th is "The Islamic Intellectual Heritage in a Contemporary Global Context." Mohammed Arkoun (emeritus professor of the History of Islamic Thought, University of Paris III: Sorbonne-Nouvelle), Jamil Ragep (professor, History of Science in Islamic Societies, McGill University), and Ghassan Atiyyah (publisher, Iraqi File), among others, present speeches on this topic.

After speaking, panellists field questions from conference attendees.
